Future Foundation wants nominations for CLvFFie Awards

The Conejo/Las Virgenes Future Foundation is already gearing up to present its eighth annual CLvFFie (pronounced Cliffie) Awards. A call has gone out to the community for nominations of worthy citizens by June 30. The event takes place in November.

Each year, the CLVFF Foundation honors individuals and groups whose various contributions have made a positive difference in the region, Executive Director Fran Brough said.

Finalists in several categories will be invited to attend the CLvFFies on Sat., Nov. 22 at Los Robles Greens in Thousand Oaks.

Categories for nominees include: the Arts, Business/Professional, Community Service, Education, Public Safety and Youth Leadership.

"This event is designed to give those nominated a special evening to know how much the community appreciates them," CLVFF Foundation Chair Carl Herman said.

He added, "We hope that finalists will take this opportunity to share this memorable evening with family members, many friends and the community."

The foundation is an apolitical, nonprofit "think tank" organization dedicated to the study of issues important to the Conejo Valley region.

Each year, the CLVFF sponsors events and colloquiums for senior citizens, high school students and all ages in between.

This year's annual Youth Congress focused on politics. In the past the group has gathered experts to explore such topics as "Financing Our Region's Future" and "A Day in Your Life in 2016."

The Senior Congress program addresses topics pertinent to the area's older population. Currently, the foundation is conducting a study on housing for the visual arts.

Sometimes questions arise about which category best reflects a candidate's achievements, Brough said. Once an application is submitted, the selection committee will be in contact if there is any confusion, she explained.

All candidates chosen as finalists will be notified in late September and will be guests at the November event. One recipient from the finalists in each category will be selected by secret ballot and revealed at the dinner celebration.

Applications for nominees can be printed from the foundation's website at www.clvff.org, or by calling the office at (818) 880-1054.
