Audubon Society plans activities for bird watchers

The Conejo Valley Audubon Society will host the club's annual potluck picnic at 11 a.m. Sun., June 1 at the original Janss House at the end of Greenmeadow Avenue in Thousand Oaks. A bird walk at 8 a.m. will precede the picnic.

Members should bring a main dish, salad or dessert for eight people, as well as chairs, plates, cutlery and drinks. For more information or driving directions, call the club's information line at (805) 987-2721.

The following birding trips are planned for June. For more information, call the contact person listed for each event.

•Sat., June 7, Pine Mountain Campground. Meet at Las Posas Park-and-Ride at 7:30 a.m. to carpool. Look for greentailed towhees, purple finches, Clarke's nutcrackers, whiteheaded woodpeckers, pygmy nuthatches and other species. Bring a jacket, lunch and water. Leader is Dee Lyon, (805) 499-2165.

•Sat., June 14, Sierra Vista.

Meet at the site at 8 a.m.

See neotropical migrants such as lazuli

bunting, blue grosbeak and orioles. Leader is Rich Congersky.

Park. Meet at Las

Posas Parkand

Ride at 7:45 a.m. to carpool or at park entrance at 8 a.m. Look for yellowbreasted chats, orioles, ash-throated flycatchers and other nesting birds. Leader is Tom Halpin, (805) 746-4598.
