Oaks Christian pole-vaulter Lauren Radke battles Graves' disease, but it hasn't slowed her down one bit
      If Lauren Radke's doctor is reading this, then she just got busted. If not, trouble remains for Radke's pole-vaulting competition. Radke, an Oaks Christian senior, was diagnosed with Graves' disease during March 2005. The disease is an autoimmune disorder that involves overactivity of the thyroid gland (hyperthyroidism).

Sacrifice fly lifts Thousand Oaks to victory
Lancer softball team earns nineinning playoff win at home over Rosary
      The second time around, Thousand Oaks High senior left fielder Brooke Johnson seized the moment. Johnson's runscoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth inning Tuesday afternoon lifted the Lancers to a 3-2 victory over visiting Rosary in the second round of the CIFSouthern Section Division I softball playoffs.

Nestlerode headed to USC
      Matt Nestlerode, a righthanded pitcher for the Oaks Christian baseball team, has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for USC. Nestlerode missed his entire senior season with the Li ons after undergoing Tommy John surgery on his pitching arm in January.

Cuadrado, 7, dominates local track meet
      Last Saturday at the Ventura County Youth Track Conference Varsity Finals at Moorpark High, Rowan Cuadrado, a 7-year-old on the Thousand Oaks Flyers Gremlin girls' team, won gold medals in all four track and field events she competed in- the long jump, 4x100 relay, 1,600-meter run and the 800.
