Teacher looks to raise money for 40 computers
      Cameron White doesn't look at himself as just another teacher trying to raise money for his school. He sees an opportunity for a revolution, and he's taking it. White has been teaching for 13 years, and currently gives computer instruction in a lab at Los Cerritos Middle School where the equipment is more than seven years old.

Redwood wins quiz bowl again
      For the 11th year in a row Redwood Middle School placed first in the statewide Thinking Cap Quiz Bowl academic competition. This year the seventh-grade team placed first in its category with a score of 1,153, more than 200 points higher than the secondplace team.

Students earn doctorate degrees at Cal Lutheran
      California Lutheran University conferred eight doctoral degrees at the graduate commencement ceremony on May 17. The candidates received the Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership program in CLU's School of Education.

Schools receive grants for new advanced high school programs
      Two local high schools are among the 16 new grantees who will share grants that total $755,000, part of $6.2 million in Specialized Secondary Programs funding. In the Simi Valley Unified School District, Santa Susana High School Law and Society Academy received $100,000.

Senior receives college scholarship from Disney
      Sidney Primas, 19, a senior at Westlake High School, was named as the 2008 the Walt Disney Company Foundation Scholarship recipient. The scholarship awards full tuition for four years of undergraduate studies at any accredited college or university in either business administration or fine arts.
