Ascension Lutheran will host a fundraising dinner for mission trip
Ascension Lutheran Church will serve a fundraising dinner at 12:30 p.m. Sun., June 1 in the church's Pederson Hall, 1600 E. Hillcrest Dr., Thousand Oaks.
The menu will feature Peruvian food prepared by Chef Judy Marshall, a church member. Reservations can be made by calling the church office at (805) 4950406. A freewill offering will be taken at the dinner.
The event will benefit the 22 church members who are planning to participate in a mission trip to Lima and Cuzco, Peru, from June 30 through July 12.
The trip will be led by the Rev. Steve Herder, who has shepherded five previous trips to Peru.
During the trip the participants will conduct a Vacation Bible School in the town of Pachacmac, participate in a construction project, visit Lutheran World Relief project sites, visit an orphanage supported by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and take a train ride to Machu Picchu.
