Top lacrosse players honored by SCLA
Mike Cammorata, a senior from Agoura High, is the 2008 lacrosse high school AllAmerican as voted by coaches from the Southern California Lacrosse Association.
Cammorata was presented with the award after Agoura won the league championship by defeating Newbury Park 11-2 in the final game of the SCLA season last Friday at NPHS.
Cammorata was also named to the SCLA first team for midfield, along with Newbury Park's Mark Wood and Michael Abrouk, who also received the Academic Excellence Award.
Attackers named to the first team include Clay Venitis of Thousand Oaks, Chris Hogg of Agoura and Will Marinelli of Newbury Park.
Named to the first team defense were Josh Bounds (Thousand Oaks), Stephen Cordial (Agoura) and Westin Taylor (Newbury Park.).
The first team long-stick midfielder was Newbury Park's Luke Klein. Goalie Kevin Miyamoto of Newbury Park also made the first team.
Selected to the second team were attackers Dustin Fante (Thousand Oaks), Tim Owens (Newbury Park) and Tim Farrell (Westlake.)
Also chosen to the second team were midfielders Brian Mandell (Calabasas), Canyon Grove (Agoura) and Andrew Dietz (Westlake.)
Second team defense: Connor Saucier (Newbury Park), Nick Caparelli (Thousand Oaks) and Adam Smith (Westlake).
Agoura's Cole Shuster is the second team long-stick midfielder. Agoura goalie DJ Bancroft also made the second team.
Third team attack: Jake Lawrence (Agoura), Lucas Reilly (Newbury Park) and Matthew Nidetz (Westlake).
Third team midfielders: Thousand Oaks' Matt McQuade, and DJ Moosekian and Geoff Sebold from Newbury Park.
The third team long-stick midfielder was Andrew Turner of Westlake.
Third team defenders included Thomas Schneider (Newbury Park), Greg Yeoman (Westlake) and Connor Kinnon (Thousand Oaks.)
The third team goalie was Alec Farrell of Westlake.
