      Aficionados of traditional music will once again gather at Paramount Ranch in rural Agoura on Sun., May 18 to socialize and enjoy acoustic melodies. The daylong, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Topanga Banjo-Fiddle Contest and Festival, founded in 1961, attracts hundreds of musicians each year.

Youth orchestra to perform
      The Conejo Valley Youth Orchestra will present the annual spring concert at 3 p.m. June 1 in the Fred Kavli Theatre at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, 2100 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd. Elevenyearold cellist Matthew Chen will perform with the orchestra, playing the last movement of Lalo's "Cello Concerto" in D Minor.
