T.O. man charged with elder abuse

Samuel Kaller, 48, of Thousand Oaks was recently charged with felony elder abuse and resisting arrest.

According to police, Kaller verbally and physically abused his 82-year-old mother in a grocery store.

Witnesses and shoppers reported the incident to police.

During an investigation by deputies, the Kaller home was found to have unhealthy living conditions, such as lack of sanitation and piles of debris.

Kaller allegedly resisted deputies' orders, causing them to draw their less lethal weapons. Kaller forced his mother in front of him to shield himself.

If convicted, Kaller faces five years in prison.
