Handicapped parking laws are sometimes ignored

      Even though it's generally believed handicapped parking spaces are reserved for those who have a blue handicapped placard or special license plate from the California Department of Motor Vehicles, it seems some unusual vehicles are allowed to park in those spaces.

      Newbury Park A male, 44, was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance at 7:30 a.m. April 22 in the 1300 block of Alessandro Drive. A male, 25, was allegedly under the influence of prescription medication and involved in a traffic collision in the 2200 block of Michael Drive.

Man arrested for allegedly stealing another man's pants

      Mauricio Guzman will never forget when his pants were stolen along with everything in his pockets last June. The person who took his pants used Guzman's credit cards to go on a spending spree at a dozen or more businesses near Thousand Oaks Boulevard while Guzman was exercising at 24 Hour Fitness in Thousand Oaks.

T.O. man charged with elder abuse
      Samuel Kaller, 48, of Thousand Oaks was recently charged with felony elder abuse and resisting arrest. According to police, Kaller verbally and physically abused his 82-year-old mother in a grocery store. Witnesses and shoppers reported the incident to police.
