Petition drive begins for mobile home owners
      A group that no longer trusts city officials to protect them is hoping that caring residents of Thousand Oaks will come to their aid and help them fight to keep their homes from developers.

Sidewalk sale to benefit a T.O. charity
      The Book Bag, a nonprofit community bookstore, will hold its fourth annual sidewalk sale from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fri., May 9 and Sat., May 10 at the store, 202 N. Skyline Drive, Thousand Oaks. Hundreds of books will be on sale at prices of $1 for hardbacks, 50 cents for paperbacks and children's books. Only cash and checks will be accepted.

The Oaks labors to give birth to new stores and fresh appearance
      "Under construction" seems like an understatement at The Oaks mall, where many brandnew retailers will join renovated or expanded stores later this year. No longer does Marin Drive serve as an entrance to the mall off Hillcrest Drive. Those who once used that option must now enter closer to Lynn Road.

Home sales remain sluggish in March
      March sales of Conejo Valley single-family homes totaled 65. This compares to 65 sold in February and 106 a year ago, according to Patti Hepple, president of the Conejo Valley Association of Realtors. Median sales price for single-family homes in March was $668,270; in 2007 it was $814,285.
