New Charity Reaches Those Suffering in Africa

HIV/AIDS, starvation, poor water supply and economic devastation are the situations faced by Africans every day. Kenneth Lord's charity, Africa As One, is a vehicle to change the situation.

For more than 15 years Lord has helped others transform their lives and reshape their vision of what is possible. Begun in 1995, Africa As One is a global charity aimed at solving Africa's biggest struggles by evaluating existing programs, discerning best practices and establishing a high level of accountability, transparency and integrity.

Over recent years, the global community has directed billions of dollars in relief to Africa, and although many organizations work to address critical issues, the results often fall short. Africa As One works to ensure aid is used in the most effective way possible.

One such program is the "Mother-To-Child Transmission Prevention Project." This effort aims to end mother-to-infant HIV/ AIDS transmission, which accounts for 90 percent of the 3million people infected in sub-Sahara Africa. AAO donates 93 percent of every dollar it receives directly to this effort.

AAO is dedicated to raising more than $470,000 needed for this program. By providing crucial training to more than 100 healthcare professionals serving thousands of families, the transmission of HIV/ AIDS from mothers to infants can be stopped.

Lord and the AAO solicit the community's support of their effort to save more than 30,000 children.
