CLU professor to speak on evil
Dr. Samuel Thomas, professor at California Lutheran University, will explore the issues of sin, evil and Satan during a four-part series on "Evil in the Biblical Tradition" beginning Sun., May 4 at Ascension Lutheran Church, 1600 Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks.
The series is part of the church's adult Sunday School class.
It will be presented from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. each Sunday in May.
Following is the class schedule:
May 4: "Evil in the Old Testament: God, Satan and human sin."
May 11: "Personifications of evil in Early Judaism and in the New Testament: Demons, devils and demiurges."
May 18: "Theological reasoning about evil: From Augustine to Augsburg."
May 25: "Questions, answers and reflections on evil and the Biblical tradition."
The public is invited to attend. There is no charge.
