Measure B is actually the 'Do-it Center Initiative'
In today's complicated world, it's not often when groups as different as labor unions, seniors and the Chamber of Commerce agree on a single, important issue. But this is exactly what's happening with Measure B, the Doit Center Initiative, in Thousand Oaks. Many local community groups and their members are joining together to vote no on Measure B. Citizens for a Strong and Healthy Thousand Oaks has grown into the broadest and most diverse coalition ever assembled here in Thousand Oaks. We're proud to now have the endorsements of the following prominent community organizations, who are all opposed to Measure B: Area Housing Authority of Ventura County, California Lutheran University, Congress of California Seniors, Conejo Council PTA, Conejo Valley Recreation and Park District board of directors, Los Robles Hospital and Medical Center, Los Robles Hospital board of trustees, Los Robles Hospital Medical Executive Committee, Thousand Oaks Boulevard Association, Thousand OaksWestlake Village Regional Chamber of Commerce, TriCounties Central Labor Council, Unified Association of Conejo Teachers, Ventura County Economic Development Association and the Ventura County Taxpayers Association These groups and their members contribute every single day to the quality of life we have here in Thousand Oaks, and they seldom all agree. But what they do agree on, and what's brought them together, is the fact that the Doit Center Initiative is a cynical anti-competition measure that will actually make traffic worse and was never intended to improve traffic in our city. They know that multiple independent analyses of Measure B have clearly stated that, if it passes, there will be dramatic and broadsweeping negative impacts on the city of Thousand Oaks, Conejo Valley Unified School District, Conejo Recreation and Park District, police and fire services, youth organizations, our library and the quality of life for our residents. We must do everything we can to defeat this initiative. John Dokken Chair, Citizens for a Strong and Healthy Thousand Oaks |
