Yelich chooses UCLA

Westlake High sophomore first baseman Christian Yelich has made a verbal commitment to play baseball at UCLA when he graduates from high school.

Yelich, a Marmonte League honorable mention selection as a freshman for the Warriors, has been swinging a hot bat so far this season.

The left-handed slugger entered the week with a .417 batting average, five home runs and 17 RBI. His .833 slugging percentage was tops on the team.
