Traffic Initiative proposes flawed methodology
As a registered voter and Thousand Oaks resident, I'm committed to thoughtful development and the welfare of this community. The proponents of Measure B may truly believe that they're protecting my rights as a voter, but this initiative actually proposes a flawed and misleading evaluation of traffic levels in order to obscure careful traffic planning.

It's not all about the money
Has anyone else noticed that the reps from the city of T.O. only talk about the money they will lose if this initiative passes? Never do they mention "quality of life," which is one of the reasons this initiative is on the ballot.

History doesn't change significance of our country's Bill of Rights
This letter is a response to the opinions expressed by Mr. Rosen in last week's Opinion section relative to the upcoming interpre tation of the Second Amendment to the Constitution by the Supreme Court. Mr. Rosen points out that AK47 rifles and similar military rifles didn't exist in 1791 when the Second Amendment was ratified.

Polling of teachers shouldn't be used to criticize school board member
''When do you want Christmas vacation to start? December 16, 20 or 23, 2006?" That's the question school board member Mike Dunn emailed to the teachers in December 2005.

Teachers union should stop attacking Dunn
It's unfortunate that the school union has decided to continue to harass Michael Dunn for the past two years. His crime was putting taxpayers, parents and voters first instead of the school union and their special interests.

T.O. City Council is conservative? I don't think so
Regarding Nancy Needham's April 3 article in the Thousand Oaks Acorn that was headlined "Mayor discusses finances, facilities, priorities of the city," T.O.

Countrywide doesn't deserve all the blame
I'm floored by the outlandish comment published in last week's T.O. Acorn by letter writer Marilee Ullmann stating that, "In today's culture, it's money that comes before your rights as an individual. Countrywide is failing because that's the rules they followed.
