This year's carnival begins April 30

      Conejo Valley Days has new tents, a new look and lots of surprises this year. "It seems like everything is pulling together," volunteer CVD chair Marty Campbell said. A few months ago, at a Thousand Oaks City Council meeting, she wouldn't have imagined things would ever be going this well.

      Council members wear two hats at every meeting of the City Council. No, not boxing helmets and cowboy hats- though sometimes it seems like they should. The three men and two women are members of both the council and the Thousand Oaks Redevelopment Agency.

      Dying is not easy on anyone, but a dog named Tess made it a little more bearable for the Holloway family in Thousand Oaks when she came to spend time with her very sick friend Jack. Tess began visiting Jack Holloway when he was under the care of his daughters and hospice.

      Now through Thurs., May 15, Easter Seals is holding its annual "Be an Angel of Change" campaign.
