Local stars earn All-TVL recognition

The Tri-Valley League has announced its All-League teams for boys' and girls' basketball, boys' and girls' soccer, and girls' water polo. Many area athletes were recognized for their excellent achievements this winter. Here is a rundown of the locals who were honored:

Boys' basketball

Coach of the Year: Joey Ramirez (Oak Park).

First team: Bobby Hillard and Andy Winningham of Oak Park; Matt Johnson and Tyler McGrath of Oaks Christian.

Second team: Sam Levine and Blake Davenport of Oak Park; Christopher Owusu of Oaks Christian.

Honorable mention: Mitchell Halpert and Josh Marcus of Oak Park; Michael Crownover, Taylor Hange and Jules Sharpe of Oaks Christian.

Girls' basketball

Co-Most Valuable Player award: Chelsea Carlisle (Oaks Christian).

First team: Katie Brooks and Christine Escoto of Oaks Christian; Lauren Varney and Erin Somers of Oak Park.

Second team: Keiosha Hunt and Crystal Owusu of Oaks Christian; Brett Hall of Oak Park.

Honorable mentions: Alex Rice and Emily Frake of Oaks Christian; Alexis Pomush of Oak Park.

Boys' soccer

Most Valuable Player, Offense: John Paul Herold (Oaks Christian).

Most Valuable Player, Defense: Chris DaCar (Oak Park).

Girls' soccer
