Dueling freeway signs disagree on distance

JANN HENDRY/Acorn Newspapers ONE OR THE OTHER IS WRONG- New and old northbound 23 Freeway signs give conflicting information. The one on the left says it's 3.5 miles to Tierra Rejada Road.If you look closely, the one on the right says 2.5 miles. The signs aren't even close to a mile apart.
