Conejo Valley youth teams piling up championships
     AMAZING GROUP- The Newbury Park U-14 All-Stars won the AYSO Section 10 girls' soccer championship in Bakersfield. Newbury Park now advances to the California State All-Star Championship on April 6, where they'll compete against three other teams to determine the California state champion. The team is coached by Erin O'Connell, assisted by Mike Balustein, and consists of Amy Groth, April Salas, Ciara Gallagher, Delaney Mendoza, Hannah Burdick, Jenna Moncourtois, Kari Dixon, Lacey Smith, Maddie Forman, Marissa Deluca, Nicole Kabey, Sabrina Blaustein, Sarah Maldonado, Sarah Siros and Tori Benson.

      Call it a clean sweep for the Simi Valley High boys' basketball team. Simi Valley seniors Lorne Jackson and Michael Meza have been named co-Players of the Year in the Marmonte League. Jackson was also honored as Ventura County Most Valuable Player by CaliforniaPreps.com.

Thousand Oak boys' tennis team deep, talented
Lancers stocked with star power, but not ranked

      With a trio of nationally ranked players on its roster, the Thousand Oaks High boys' tennis squad is considered a favorite to win the Marmonte League title. Beyond that, a CIF championship is certainly within the realm of possibility, too, although TOHS wasn't ranked in an initial CIF-Southern Section Division I coaches' poll released Monday.

      Early season results suggest the Marmonte League is going to be a powerhouse in high school softball this year. Through Tuesday's games, according to MaxPreps.com, the league's eight schools had compiled a 24-9 overall record.

Querrey claims first ATP title
      BREAKTHROUGH WIN- Sam Querrey, 20, a graduate of Thousand Oaks High, won the Tennis Channel Open last weekend in Las Vegas by defeating South Africa's Kevin Anderson (4-6, 6-3, 6-4) in the final. It was Querrey's first victory on the Association of Tennis Professionals tour. Querrey picked up $68,880 for his effort and is now ranked No.
