Squirrel of the Month

DARING DINER EATS AT THE PEAK OF THE ROOFLINE- - Ed Kloster of Thousand Oaks isn't crazy like some people who send us pictures of them actually feeding a squirrel. That's insanity because squirrels can crack the shells of raw nuts. If they accidentally bit you, you'd lose a finger. Ed is practical. "He likes to eat the peanuts I give him on the peak of our roof," he says. We assume Ed is throwing the peanuts up there, not climbing a ladder and then crawling on his roof. Thanks, Ed, for making your squirrel "earn" his food and for providing the first Squirrel of the Month for 2008. Readers can join the fun by sending a color print to the address on page 4 or by sending a digital image to tonewstip@theacorn.com. This is an election year, which means there will be plenty of squirrels everywhere, some with less than four legs.
