Electric cars need improvements

For years now, car companies have been making electric cars. During those years, the electric car has been changed and improved: changes that are better for the environment. However, they don't as of yet meet the needs of the economy.

Electric cars don't have an advantage over gas-powered vehicles that would make consumers want to consider switching. Drivers can go farther on a tank of gas than they can on a fully charged battery and they don't have to spend time recharging.

To add to that, electric cars are only good for city driving because their batteries don't allow for long-distance travel.

Time is money in America.

Why spend excessive time charging your car when you can be out and about finishing your errands?

Products that influence how we spend our time also affect our economy. Are enough people willing to spend more time to save money on gasoline?

In electric cars, batteries can be recharged and used to direct solar energy into them for future use, but they're still batteries. They still have to be disposed of at some time.

Granted, I'm not a mechanic. I don't know everything, but I do know that disposing of car batteries isn't cheap. It's not encouraging to buy an electric car that would cost more to fix but also isn't the best solution to help the environment. There are too many costs and disadvantages for an electric car to be considered a viable economic advantage.

Consumers won't switch to electric cars until they see one with more economic advantages than they currently do.

Until changes are made, people will continue to buy gasoline-powered cars instead of switching to electric cars. Brenda Bronson Thousand Oaks
