Volunteer Opportunities
Residents are invited to participate in any of the following volunteer opportunities in the area. For more information or to sign up, call the phone number listed for the event.
Support groups offer family members and caregivers the opportunity to share information, develop caregiving skills and provide mutual support in a small group setting.
For additional information, call the association office at (805) 4855597.
This workshop will prepare volunteers to tutor adults in basic literacy skills. Volunteers do not need a teaching background.
After the training, volunteers will commit to a minimum of two hours per week, days or evenings, to tutor an adult student in the school's Literacy Center.
For more information, call (805) 374-1161.
Classes include a history of the Conejo and the chance to observe the complex during regular visitor hours.
Docents are asked to volunteer for two, three-hour shifts per month. Duties may include giving tours, teaching grade school programs on Wednesday mornings and visiting schools with the traveling Chumash trunk.
The Docent Council regular meetings are on the third Tuesday morning of each month with speakers, field trips to other historical sites, luncheons and teas.
Docents become members of the Conejo Valley Historical Society.
For information or registration, call Alex Weyl at (805) 376-1120 or Ruthanne Begun at (805) 4960074.
