Orchestra changes name, announces schedule of performances

The Concertos With OrchestraThousand Oaks orchestra has changed its name to the Thousand Oaks Philharmonic.

The name change and a new logo will be unveiled at a reception at 3 p.m. Thurs., Jan. 3, in the Founders Room at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, 2100 Thousand Oaks Blvd.

Refreshments and entertainment will be provided.

"The new name was long overdue," said Lawrence Blonquist, president of the board of directors.

"Our growth both in terms of the number of high quality concerts we now present and our increased donor support basically dictated a new identity for our organization."

The philharmonic will play six concerts next year and continue its original mission of featuring young emerging artists in solo performances accompanied by a full professional orchestra.

The new schedule is as follows: Jan. 11, May 9 and Aug. 1 at Camarillo United Methodist Church; and Jan. 13, May 11 and Aug. 3 at the Scherr Forum Theatre in the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza.
