KCLU-FM launches website that provides access to news

KCLU-FM, the National Public Radio station for Santa Barbara and Ventura counties, has launched a new website that gives its 70,000 listeners better access to news.

Many local segments that have aired on the awardwinning station are available on the website at www.kclu.org for downloading to computers and portable media players. A searchable archive allows listeners to find stories on a particular topic. KCLU general manager Mary Olson said the station had received almost daily requests from people wanting to hear local broadcasts that had aired.

A new "Now OnAir" feature on the easier-to-navigate site highlights the current broadcast. By clicking "Listen," visitors can hear a live stream. An area called DateBook provides community event listings.

Listeners are now able to subscribe to podcasts for their favorite NPR shows so that they are automatically downloaded as soon as they are available. The station is working toward the delivery of local podcasts in the near future.

Staff from KCLU and California Lutheran University's Creative Media Center worked together to create the new website. The radio station is a community service of the Thousand Oaks university. The National Public Radio station broadcasts on 88.3 FM in Ventura County, 102.3 FM in Santa Barbara County and around the world online. For more information about KCLUFM, call (805) 4933900.
