UNIFORMED HEROES- Rangers Kevin Smith and Sheila Fernandez of the Conejo Open Space Conservation Agency, above, greet Jackie, a 3-year-old border collie-retriever mix at the Hogan Foundation in Newbury Park. The foundation presented its first-ever "Lifeline 4 Paws" awards to Smith and Fernandez. They rescued the dog after she fell from a 40-foot cliff in Wildwood Park in August. Below, Ed Hogan, chairman of the foundation, presents veterinarian Dr. Song Chong with the award for helping Jackie recover from her injuries.
