Pedestrian hit by vehicle on Moorpark Road

Guadalupe Ceja, a pedestrian who suffered head injuries Monday when he was struck by a car, is in serious but stable condition at Los Robles Hospital and Medical Center, according to hospital spokesperson Kris Carraway-Bowman.

According to witnesses noted in a Thousand Oaks police report, the 45-year-old man may have been crossing the street against a red light when he walked westbound across Moorpark Road along the north side of Wilbur Road around 5:40 p.m. Dec. 10.

A 1999 Jeep Wrangler hit him in the intersection, knocking Ceja to the ground.

The 64-year-old driver stopped to render aid and waited for emergency personnel to arrive. Ceja was taken by ambulance to Los Robles Hospital.

A portion of the intersection of Moorpark and Wilbur roads was closed for almost three hours for examination of the scene. The investigation by police is continuing, but neither drugs nor alcohol appear to be contributing factors, according to the police report.
