Redeemer Lutheran Church celebrates 45th anniversary

Redeemer Lutheran Church is celebrating its 45th anniversary at 9 a.m. Sun., Dec. 2 followed by a brunch at 11 a.m.

The special guest speaker is the Rev. Dr. Larry A. Stoterau, president of the Pacific Southwest District of the Lutheran ChurchMissouri Synod.

On Dec. 2, 1962, Redeemer was officially organized with 66 charter members.

On Oct. 3, 1965, the new church building and educational unit were dedicated after the District Mission Board purchased the 4.5-acre site at the corner of Lynn Road and Camino Dos Rios at the cost of $12,500 per acre and made a loan of $120,000 to the congregation.

The church was destroyed by fire in December 1992, but the congregation rebuilt the nave, sanctuary and fellowship hall.

The Rev. Dr. Elroi Reimnitz has served as pastor since April 1986.
