100-voice Christmas concert free to public

Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will present "Carol to the King," a Christmas concert, at 5:30 p.m. Sun., Dec. 9 at 1600 Erbes Road, Thousand Oaks.

The performance will be repeated the same evening at 8 p.m. at 35 S. Wendy Drive in Newbury Park.

All are welcome, and there is no charge.

Local resident Frank Turner will conduct the 100-voice choir in familiar and new music. Turner has taught music at Santa Monica College for 41 years.

"Our goal is to share the message of the birth of our Savior through music," said Romy Snyder, one of the concert organizers. "The Christmas season can become somewhat hectic, and we hope that this program will help turn hearts to the true meaning and purpose of Christmas."

The concert will include narration by Grant Brimhall, former Thousand Oaks city manager, and several small ensembles and solos.
