2008 Conejo Valley Days theme winner announced

The theme for the 2008 Conejo Valley Days (CVD) has been announced by the Conejo Valley Days board of directors.

"Come Along With Me to CVD!" was submitted by Westlake Village resident Kathy Fry. The winning theme was selected from more than 50 entries. Fry, 23, has been going to Conejo Valley Days for as long as she can remember. "My mother was pregnant with me when my family moved here and first went to Conejo Valley Days," said Fry, "I've been going ever since." Fry marched in the CVD parade with bands from Colina Middle School and Westlake High School. Fry said she loves the CVD atmosphere, carnival, games and live music.

"When I was very young, my favorite activity was the petting zoo. When I was older, CVD was the place we all met to go on carnival rides, eat at the food booths, listen to music and just hang out. I still look forward to going each year." "Conejo Valley Days has always been a place to bring friends and family," said Marty Campbell, 2008 CVD general chair. "That's why Kathy's winning theme is so appropriate. For five days every year, CVD is the Conejo Valley's community gathering place. There is no other event that captures our community's spirit as does CVD." As the theme winner, Fry will receive four all-inclusive five-day passes to the festival, which will be staged April 30 to May 4, 2008. The passes will give her and three guests entry into CVD and on-site events that require separate admission. She will also be invited to ride in the CVD parade. Fry's theme will be seen on all 2008 Conejo Valley Days items including badges posters, programs and advertising. Conejo Valley Days will celebrate its 52nd anniversary in 2008. The festivities officially begin on April 19 with the CVD Kick-Off Picnic and Classic Car Show at the Civic Arts Plaza lawn.
