Holiday decorators can compete categorically

The Conejo Recreation and Park District is sponsoring its first outdoor decorating contest, "Holiday Homes." Residents are encouraged to light up and decorate their homes for the holiday season.

A double-decker bus will visit participating houses for judging on Fri., Dec. 14. The bus ride will include carolers, and prizes will be left on the doorsteps of the winners.

There are two categories: one for those who decorate their homes themselves and one for professionally decorated houses.

The entry fee is $10, and the contest is open to district residents only, those living in Newbury Park, Thousand Oaks and the Ventura County portion of Westlake Village.
