Liberals distort the facts to match their conclusions

It appears that Bob Griffin has equated "moral decay" with everything wrong with the world and blames the conservatives with keeping quiet regarding issues of importance ("Conservatives have no monopoly on common sense," Nov. 1 T.O. Acorn).

Mr. Griffin states that Ms. Cross "simple-mindedly attributes society's ills to the liberals because apparently they're the ones who let bad things happen by keeping quiet." Griffin goes on to state that he's a card-carrying politically liberal parent who voted for Gore and Kerry, and would vote for Hillary Clinton.

He further states that it was the conservatives that have kept quiet and have let bad things happen to the world. On this, I totally agree with him.

Griffin stated, "It was the conservatives who kept quiet as George Bush simple-mindedly attacked Iraq to spearhead his war on terror." He's correct that the conservatives did keep quiet that it was Clinton's CIA director, George Tenet, that lied to President Bush and Congress about the war on terror. Tenet received his information from German intelligence and was warned that the information couldn't be verified.

Griffin goes on to state it was "the conservatives who kept quiet when Secretary Rumsfeld sent American sons and daughters into harm's way in Iraq with inadequately armored vehicles and uniforms." It's true that American GIs went to war with inadequate equipment and the conservatives kept quiet that the Clinton administration drastically cut the Defense Department budget and refused to update military equipment.

I do agree with Griffin that apparently global warming is taking place, but remember last decade these same liberals warned us about global cooling. What's always ignored by the liberals is that water vapor is responsible for about 95 percent of the greenhouse gases, with carbon dioxide at about 3.6 percent. Human-related carbon dioxide accounts for about 0.12 percent of the total greenhouse gases.

Griffin accepts the global warming scare but finds it repugnant that mothers are worried about 5-year-olds learning about homosexuality.
