Thousand Oaks is a great place to film a movie Michele Pettes, president of the Film Commission, must have been misquoted in your Nov. 1 issue; otherwise I have a hunch she represents the Canadian Film Commission (Thousand Oaks Acorn story, "Welcome mat rolled up for moviemakers"). Hundreds of movies have been filmed in Thousand Oaks over my lifetime, and not once have I heard of a single adverse comment. In fact, it's just the opposite, and Hollywood keeps coming back year after year. All those great Western movies and contemporary films done here in Thousand Oaks always end up in national magazines doing a great job of promoting our beautiful area. Oftentimes the actors or crew end up living here or already do. As you mentioned, Ron Howard was in our neighborhood filming last month for a couple of days. I must tell you that everyone enjoyed meeting the nicest movie stars, cast and crew. It was an exciting time meeting some of them personally including many neighbors blocks away that we would have otherwise never met. Most of all, the kids around here had a whole lot of fun watching two days of filming right in their own neighborhood.
Each year, filming on location can be seen all over
Thousand Oaks because it's a great place to do business. I'm looking forward to
seeing the Ron Howard movie (Frost/Nixon) next year to see if any of my
neighbors are in it. Who knows, maybe Michele Pettes will be in it. | |||||
