Arts Council bestows award

The Ventura County Arts Council distributed $2,400 in awards to the winners in the sixth annual National Arts Program at Ventura County for current county employees and their immediate families.

Among the artists receiving awards were Steve Parker of Camarillo, People's Choice for his watercolor "I Heard You Were Gone"; Jennifer Baranoff of Oak Park, first place for Youth Under 12 for "Portrait of a Young Lady"; and Michael Baker of Thousand Oaks, honorable mention for his photograph "Oak in Field."

Also, Angela Bonfiglio Allen of Camarillo, honorable mention for her colored pencil "Isolation"; and Monica Nolan of Thousand Oaks, first place for "Landscape Study No. 3."

This year's exhibit was an official Ventura County Arts Week 2007 event.
