Foundation collects toys, cash to help children

The Peter C. Foy Foundation recently announced the kickoff of its annual Foy Toy Drive to benefit children in need. The goal for this year's campaign is to deliver 20,000 toys to organizations caring for children during the holiday season.

Ventura County District 4 supervisor Foy, president and CEO of Peter C. Foy & Associates, formed the charitable foundation in 2001. The Peter C. Foy Foundation began an annual toy drive that same year, collecting toys and cash donations that were delivered to homeless shelters, residential treatment facilities, rehabilitation centers and other organizations responsible for the welfare of children.

The toy drive is starting earlier this year because the recipient charities need the toys by Dec. 15.

Businesses and organizations participating in the drive receive a large toy collection box, which is dropped off with signage and will be picked up in December.

Toys are organized by gender and age and then distributed to the foundation's nonprofit partners.

Businesses that want to host a collection box should call the foundation as soon as possible at (818) 703-8057 or e-mail lisa@pcfoy.com.

Individuals who would like to donate directly may drop off unwrapped new toys at Peter C. Foy & Associates, 21650 Oxnard St., Ste. 1900, Woodland Hills, 91367.

Cash donations may be made via check payable to the Peter C. Foy Foundation and dropped off or mailed to the address above.

Credit card donations will be accepted online at www .petercfoyfoundation.org.

Bulk toys may also be ordered online by visiting the website above and clicking on the Dollar Days Charity Wish List button.

Since its inception, the Foy Toy Drive has distributed more than 41,000 toys to children throughout the region.
