La Reina students in spotlight for academic performances

La Reina students received a variety of community and school awards at an honor assembly last month.

Kelsey Conway was recognized for her work with True Love Waits with the Pure Love Medal Award.

New members of Quill and Scroll, an international honor society for journalism students, include Kristina Cheung, Caroline Dunbar, Jenny Frutchey, Hannah Harper, Kristin Miller, Christina Pushaw, Amanda Turk and Rachel Yuengert.

La Reina scholarships were awarded to Keilani Garcia, Emily Gilbert, Sambavi Ramakrishnan and Deanna Walker (Gina Torrey Memorial Scholarships for academic improvement); Kaitlyn Philpott (the Michelle Sinclair Memorial Scholarship); Amanda Turk (the Stephanie Tourikian Memorial Scholarship); Alexa Garcia and Francesca Barletta (Service Council Scholarships).

Amanda Turk also received the University of Rochester Humanities/Social Sciences Award and the Good Citizen Award from the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Tara Lutz won the St. Michael's College Scholarship and Service Award, while Emily Rossi was recognized for her achievement in math and science by the Colorado School of Mines.

Members of the Class of 2008 receiving recognition through the AP Scholar awards program include Nayantara Bhushan, Mikayla Mejia, Amanda Mundell, Emily Rossi and Amanda Turk (Scholars with Distinction); Kristina Cheung, Lauren Dansey, Hannah Harper, Stephanie Leung, Sarah Merriman, Ashley Millhouse and Morgan Mosbey (Scholars with Honor); and Kelsey Conway, Megan DeGennaro, Jennifer Frutchey, Danica Frye, Elizabeth Heredia, Melanie Houselog, Ashley McAlpin, Kristin Miller, Piper Nunez, Jessica Pilloni, Christina Pushaw and Rachel Yuengert (Scholars).

In addition, 44 members of the Class of 2007 received an AP Scholar award.
