Garvin family prevails in court

A Ventura County jury awarded $12.5 million in damages to the family of Glenn Garvin, a North Ranch resident who was killed last year.

Garvin, 49, a traffic commissioner and endodontist, was killed on Sept. 16, 2006 when he was struck by a car while riding his bicycle on Westlake Boulevard.

The driver, Norma Seigel, 82, of Thousand Oaks was taken to court by the family, who filed a wrongful death suit.

Garvin is survived by his wife of 25 years, Pamela Garvin, 50, and two teenage sons.
