Gang unit arrests two teens in connection with shooting incident earlier this year Two teenagers have been arrested by the Thousand Oaks Police Special Enforcement/Gang Unit and charged with attempted murder. Simi Valley resident Christian Alex Gomez, 18, and a 17yearold male from Thousand Oaks allegedly were involved in what police describe as a gang-related shooting on Feb. 3. The shooting took place in the 600 block of Avenida del Platino in Newbury Park. A male juvenile was shot through the arm while standing outside his mother's home. The arrests were made at the suspects' homes. Gomez lived in the 2600 block of Belburn Place in Simi Valley, where police executed a search warrant on Tuesday. Gomez was booked at the Ventura County Sheriff's Department pre-trial detention facility. His bail was set at $1 million. The 17-year-old suspect lived with his mother in the 400 block of E. Hillcrest Drive. A search warrant was also executed at his home. He was booked at the juvenile justice facility. - Nancy Needham |
