Simi Valley (4-3) at Newbury Park (7-0)
Outlook: The Panthers are really rolling now.
Last week's 35-0 triumph over Calabasas was the high point for the team's defense thus far.
The Panthers allowed only 111 yards of total offense to Calabasas (75 rushing, 36 passing) and forced two fumbles. If they keep playing like this, NPHS might never lose.
This week's challenge will be trying to solve an inconsistent, yet talented, Simi Valley squad.
The Pioneers have logged big wins this season, but have followed up those performances with duds. After dropping a onesided affair to Westlake last Friday, 31-14, Simi Valley is primed for a decent effort in this one.
OCHS (4-3) vs. Grace Brethren (4-3)
Outlook: Losers of three of their last five games, the Oaks Christian Lions will look to extract a little revenge against an undermanned Grace Brethren squad.
Oaks Christian continues to get solid production from quarterback Chris Potter and running back Malcolm Jones, but the team's wide receivers and defense both need to step up.
If wideout Chris Owusu (knee) is able to return this week, that should significantly help the OCHS passing attack.
Passing is what the Lancers do best. Junior quarterback Kevin Ramay has completed 132-of-251 attempts for 1,700 yards and 22 touchdowns. He also leads Grace Brethren with 344 rushing yards.
Last week's top performers
Westlake offensive line: Paving the way for 426 yards of total offense during the Warriors' 31-14 win over Simi Valley were starting offensive linemen Marcus Soler, Chris Mumford, Spencer Christiansen, Tommy Stuart and Michael Lorenzo.
Kyle Shorten, RB/DB, Oak Park: Shorten was phenomenal in Oak Park's 25-20 upset of Oaks Christian. He logged a receiving touchdown, had a punt return for a score and broke up the Lions' final pass attempt in the end zone.
John Lister, RB, TOHS: With 237 rushing yards in last week's 24-21 win at Royal, Lister came five yards away from breaking the school's single-game record.
