October is the time to adopt a shelter dog

The American Humane Association and Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control, in observance of October as Adopt-a-Dog Month, invite the public to visit Agoura Animal Shelter, 29525 Agoura Road in Agoura Hills, and meet dogs and puppies in need of a home.

"The county of Los Angeles Department of Animal Care and Control has a lot of great dogs just waiting to find permanent and loving homes," said Michelle Roache, deputy director. "When you adopt a dog from an animal shelter, you are not only saving a life- you are also getting a wonderful companion," she said.

Tax-deductible donations and volunteers are also needed. For information on volunteering, call the director of volunteer services at (562) 256-1367 or visit animalcare.lacounty.gov/.
