Items needed to fill stockings for members of armed forces
Project Holiday Stocking, in which residents fill stockings with items for overseas military personnel, will launch on Thurs., Nov. 1 and continue through Dec. 10.
Participants will buy a stocking, no longer than 20 inches and fill it with some of the items listed below. Return the filled stocking along with a check for $8.95 payable to Denise Snavely to cover the cost of shipping stockings to U.S. troops in Afghanistan.
Stockings may be turned in at Prudential California Realty on 5655 Lindero Canyon Road, Thousand Oaks; Merrill Lynch 2625 Townsgate Road, Ste. 100, Westlake Village; Santa Barbara Bank and Trust, 101 N. Westlake Blvd., Westlake Village; and North Ranch Cleaners, 3825F Thousand Oaks Blvd., Westlake Village.
Items requested include Chap Stick, body and hand lotions, body and foot powder, liquid body soap, wet wipes, deodorant, toothpaste and brushes, shaving cream, razors, shampoo, Neosporin, Advil, Bandaids, vitamins, aspirin, disinfecting hand gels, cough drops, eye drops, fingernail clippers, duct tape, Ziplock bags, AA and AAA batteries, paperback books, DVDs, CDs, writing paper and pens, AT&T phone cards, small notebooks, snack foods, candy, gum, peanut butter crackers, cookies, nuts, tuna and fruit in easy-open cans, dry soup mixes, Crystal Lite, tea bags and coffee.
Participants are asked to include a holiday card with each stocking.
