'Light Sculptures' to be exhibited

"Light Sculptures by Sean Sobczak" will be on exhibit from Oct. 31 through Nov. 27 in the Kwan Fong Gallery of Art and Culture, inside the Soiland Humanities Center at California Lutheran University, 60 W. Olsen Drive, Thousand Oaks.

The opening reception will begin at 6 p.m. Wed., Oct. 31 in the gallery's courtyard.

The second annual CLU Halloween Festival will feature fire dancers, stilt walkers and free pumpkin pie. Jim Connolly will combine his voice with a variety of instruments to create soundscapes.

Sobczak, a Los Angeles resident, combines steel wire, imported fabrics and various types of illumination to create plants, insects and ocean life. His sculptures include sea horses with laser eyes, spiders and dragonflies.

The Kwan Fong Gallery and the art department are sponsoring the free exhibit and festival. The gallery is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

For information about the show, call curator Michael Pearce at (805) 4933316 or email gallery@callutheran.edu.
