CLU Founders Day Convocation

California Lutheran University's Founders Day Convocation will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow, Fri., Oct. 19, in the Samuelson Chapel on the campus at 60 W. Olsen Road, Thousand Oaks.

The Rev. Mark S. Hanson, presiding bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, will deliver the keynote address.

Hanson, president of the Lutheran World Federation, is the author of "Faithful Yet Changing: the Church in Challenging Times" and "Faithful and Courageous: Christians in Unsettling Times."

Also during the service, the Rev. Lauren (Bud) Egdahl of Lafayette will receive the Christus Award for his work building a bridge between the university and the church through the years.

Admission is free.

At 8 p.m. the same day, the CLU ensemble groups will present a concert in the chapel.

The university symphony will play Beethoven's Fifth Symphony and Charles Ives' The Unanswered Question. Daniel Geeting, director of instrumental music, will conduct.

The choral ensembles will perform a variety of selections after the intermission. Wyant Morton, chair of the music department, will conduct.
