Pedestrian killed in Thousand Oaks

A pedestrian died at the scene after he was struck by a Chevy minivan driving southbound on Moorpark Road in Thousand Oaks just north of Avenida de Los Arboles on Monday morning.

The driver, Ken West, 49, of Simi Valley stopped, called 911 and rendered aid to 48-year-old Sean Brewer of Simi Valley, Sgt. Don Aguilar said. West wasn't cited, according to police.

Police and firefighters arrived within minutes and paramedics treated Brewer, but he died at the scene, Aguilar said. "This will be a lengthy investigation," Aguilar said.

Police are looking into the possibility another vehicle may have been involved. They're also seeking witnesses who might be able to shed some light on what happened, Aguilar said.

When it happened it was still dark at 5:26 a.m. There were patches of fog throughout the city. There was no crosswalk where the pedestrian was hit and, at this time, there's no known reason for him to have been in the street, Aguilar said.

Witnesses should call (805) 4948271 to give their information to police.
