Selfish objections to pavilion plan After reading the replies of those opposed to the proposed pavilion, it's obvious that they're writing for very selfish reasons. I find it convenient that the Dos Vientos residents who write to complain drop the Dos Vientos Ranch from their letters and insert Newbury Park. Every other time they want to make sure everyone knows they are from Rancho Dos Vientos, but that's another story. Many of those complaining forget the homes they're living in, Dos Vientos, destroyed a 30plusyear-old community horse ranch, Two Winds, and displaced countless wildlife by obliterating pristine and scenic open space, creating brain-numbing traffic in a selfish Not In My Back Yard (NIMBY) mentality. Before they flattened this open space to build countless tract homes, we had walking, biking and horse trails with views of the ocean which was virtually untouched by anyone and no paved roads, just trails. The proposed pavilion, on the other hand, was once a working ranch known as Olympia Farms with paved roads, buildings, living quarters and was somewhat developed. It was closed after a tragic event involving one of the owners and was considered private property- - no trespassing. This area is perfect for a gathering place for the rest of the community, from weddings to family reunions, to mention a few. I say let's build the pavilion now and a small parking area so all Conejo Valley residents who pay for this land with their property taxes can enjoy it, not just the selfish few living in Rancho Dos Vientos. There are about 145,000 other taxpayers who could enjoy this facility. Here's an idea for the few opposed to this: If you're so concerned about open space in that area, tear down your homes, remove the cement, electric gates, streets and other infrastructure and return it to the original open space condition it was before it was paved over and developed.
