HOA board ignored its homeowners The Oct. 4 issue of the T.O. Acorn had letters from many area residents objecting to the proposed development of Rancho Potrero by Conejo Recreation and Park District. There have been multiple half-page ads in the Acorn objecting to the proposed development by CRPD. It's clear that it's the residents of Dos Vientos that will be impacted directly by this ill-conceived plan. There are more than 2,000 homes in Dos Vientos, represented by two master homeowners associations. Here's an opportunity for the Dos Vientos Ranch Community Association (west side) to step up and take the lead. Instead they choose to remain silent. They've had plenty of time to mail a community survey to the homeowners to learn firsthand how members feel about plans to develop Rancho Potrero. They'd know that not a single resident is in support of this plan. It's clear that the self-serving board members have only their interests at heart. At the last DVRCA board meeting, a homeowner wanted to discuss the Rancho Potrero project. Shamefully he was turned away by the developeremployed board president saying, "It's not on the agenda." Equally shameful was the lack of response by the realtor board members who could have made a motion for a vote to add the item to the meeting agenda. Thankfully the two smaller subassociations of Estancia and Haciendas have stepped up as organized groups to protest the plans proposed by CRPD. I certainly hope that the residents of Dos Vientos remember the failure of this HOA board to speak out against the proposed Rancho Potrero development when it's time to vote at the next election. Better yet would be for those folks who have stepped up to write letters opposing this development to recall this current board and to run for a seat themselves. Wake up, people. As a community of almost 10,000 residents we have a collective voice that will be heard. We can affect the outcome of city elections if we remain united. If CRPD goes through with its foolhardy plans you can blame our HOA board. Jim Olson Newbury Park |
