Church to hold emergency and family preparedness fair
An emergency and family preparedness fairbe held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sat., Oct. 27 at thChurch of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2645 Moorpark Road in Thousand Oaks.

The free event, sponsored by the church, will include community organizations dealing with disaster relief, booths, and demonstrations covering a variety of aspects of preparedness such as first aid, food storage, communication and shelter, according to Bishop Bob Dorris, one of the organizers.

Hot dogs and hamburgers will be served between noon and 1:30 p.m.

The booths will include handouts to help families put together emergency preparedness notebooks and information on what to gather for personal emergency kits or how to purchase them.

Farmers Insurance will provide child identification kits and fingerprinting services, while the Ventura County Fire Department will be on hand with a fire truck and information on fire protection.
