Foundation walk will include family carnival

The Amanda McPherson Foundation announces the fourth annual Amanda "Spreading Our Wings" Walk and Family Carnival on Sun., Oct. 7 at 8:30 a.m. to noon.

The approximately 2.5-mile walk will begin at 9 a.m. at the Rancho Madera Community Park, 556 Lake Park Drive, Simi Valley.

A family carnival will be available to all participants immediately following the walk.

The foundation is expecting more than 300 participants, families and businesses for this event.

In lieu of a registration fee, donations will be accepted.

Nationally, donations to the foundation go towards research of velo-cardio-facial syndrome, a genetic birth defect, and viral myocarditis, sudden cardiac death.

Locally, donations are used for education, especially by providing resources and support for children with special needs attending public schools in Ventura County.
