16-year-old Newbury Park girl reports sexual assault

A 16-year-old girl in Newbury Park reported she was sexually assaulted by a man who pulled her from a sidewalk on Wendy Drive.
She said a Hispanic male in his 20s, 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet tall, 150 to 200 pounds, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans forced her under a bridge to a drainage area between Michael and Gerald drives, where the sexual assault took place.
Police are asking the public for help in finding the rapist. Anyone who witnessed the incident or other suspicious activity can call Detective Greg Tougas at (805) 371-8397.
Ventura County Crime Stoppers will pay up to a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and successful filing of a criminal complaint against the person responsible for this crime.
