Performance Zone hosts open house

The Performance Zone in Westlake Village recently hosted a back-to-school open house where the staff demonstrated the many different services offered, including sports training and sports birthday parties.

More than 500 people came through the facility during the week. The event was catered each night by local restaurants.

Guest speakers included coach Steve Melero, who spoke on the nationally recognized Parisi Speed School programs, a national sports training franchise located inside The Performance Zone.

Coach Terry Hudson spoke on Crossfit, a new training program which claims to deliver maximum results in less time than most training programs.

John Salvitti, a Hollywood fight choreographer, discussed his new cardio self-defense program that he teaches at the facility for both children and adults.

Sgt. Doug Theus of the Santa Montica Police Department and SWAT team discussed the police academy-style training program that he offers.

Ed Green demonstrated Highland Scottish games and how to compete at the elite level.

Jim Costello launched his nationally recognized program, called Brain Fit, which teaches athletes to stay focused and block out distractions during competition. Costello also teaches these same techniques to children and adults with learning disorders such as ADD.

The Performance Zone is a 12,000-square-foot facility with four lanes of Olympic sprint track, a turf soccer/football field, an Olympicstyle lifting area and functional training equipment to help people reach their peak level of fitness. There is also a media room where coaches can bring their teams and review game film before or after practice.

The facility has trained the top athletes in the area in almost every sport and is the official training company for many youth sports organizations in the area.

The Performance Zone is off the 101 Freeway at Lindero Canyon and Agoura roads.
