Local rabbi leads services at military base

Rabbi Shimon Paskow of Thousand Oaks volunteered to lead Jewish High Holy Day services at Vandenberg Air Force Base.

Paskow conducted Rosh Hashanah (New Year) services on Wed., Sept. 12 and Thurs., Sept. 13. Cantor Stacy Morse led the singing.

Master Sergeant Teri Brady, the Jewish lay leader at Vandenberg, organized the religious program with the assistance of Anita Friedman. After services, participants enjoyed a meal prepared by Frank Young and other civilian volunteers.

Paskow also led Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement) services on Fri., Sept. 21 and all day Saturday.

Paskow served Temple Etz Chaim in Thousand Oaks for more than 31 years. Prior to that, he was a chaplain in the U.S. Army, achieving the rank of colonel.
